The E-Fine 1 features an agile, lightweight and robust alloy frame armed with 170mm-travel RockShox ZEB Charger R suspension forks and 160mm-travel RockShox Super Deluxe Coil rear shock. This all-mountain suspension combo soaks up all the hits and knocks from rough terrain while ensuring you experience outstanding control and traction. Adding to its versatility, the E-Fine 1 rolls upon a 29" front and a 27.5" rear wheel to help maintain a superb balance of control, rolling speed and traction. NS Bikes has selected Tubeless Ready NS Bikes Enigma rims, NS Rotary Boost hubs and Maxxis Assegai MaxxGrip tyres - this wheelset is ideal for all-mountain, enduro and downhill trail riding sessions. Shimano Deore 12-Speed Groupset and Magura MT7 Disc Brakes NS has fitted it with a Shimano EP8 electric motor drive that gives you a pedal-assisted push up the steepest hills and enables you to keep some energy in reserve for the descents. And it is also equipped with a Shimano Deore 12-Speed groupset, a wide-ranging 11-51T cassette and Magura MT7 hydraulic disc brakes. Over the years, NS Bikes have tested a lot of electric bikes (E-Bikes) but there was never any bike that truly stole their team’s heart. It took them a while to figure out what kind of bike we want to make for NS. E-Bike Specific Geometry and Suspension Platform They ask themselves, what makes an E-Bike great? Well, if you put the motor aside for a moment, it all comes down to the bike’s geometry and suspension, and these are the main points that NS focused on. They looked for a geometry that works best on a motor-assisted bike – and it’s not necessarily the same as on their “analog” products. The geometry must be complemented by suspension that works perfectly on a bike that is inherently heavier than a normal mountain bike (MTB), and the tyres, brakes and cockpit all need to have more of a “moto” character. Shimano EP8 Pedal-Assisted Electric Motor Drive Back to the motor: there are no “bad” drive units on the market these days. But what NS think is critical for their customers is reliability and easily accessible service if something goes wrong. That’s why they chose to work with Shimano. Since both NS Bikes and Shimano have similar values and Shimano offers excellent customer service around the globe. Everyone loved the new EP8 motor from Shimano. It kicks in seamlessly and its weight and size have been reduced significantly. It’s almost 400g lighter than its predecessor, the E8000. The second important feature is that Shimano cut drag by 50%. It’s now almost comparable to a muscle-powered drivetrain. RockShox ZEB Suspension Forks and Super Deluxe Coil Rear Shock One of the key things NS noticed is that the NS Crew doesn’t dig wimpy rides. So, they made sure that the E-Fine is a big, burly machine. It’s fitted with the excellent RockShox ZEB suspension fork with massive 38mm stanchions and 170mm of travel, powerful brakes and aggressive tyres. Other essential features of the drive unit include improved ground clearance, low Q-factor and new short cranks (160mm). All this means that NS could make the bottom bracket (BB) really low without fear of pedal strikes. Just in case, they included an option to adjust the height of the BB to suit personal preferences).
